Metrolinx has awarded a fixed-price contract of C$1.4 billion on the Yonge North Subway Extension

Metrolinx has awarded a C$1.4 billion fixed-price contract to North End Connectors to design, build and finance the advance tunnelling project for the Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE). The tunnelling project is being delivered as a Design-Build-Finance contract, using the Public-Private Partnership (P3) model. 

YNSE will extend the TTC’s Line 1 subway service approximately 8 kilometres from the existing terminus at Finch Station into the City of Richmond Hill. The project runs through the City of Toronto and York Region, including sections within the cities of Markham, Vaughan and Richmond Hill. It will include an approximately 6.3-kilometre tunnelled segment as well as an above-ground segment that will run along the existing rail corridor in the northern section of the route.

McCarthy Tétrault advised Metrolinx and its partners at Infrastructure Ontario throughout procurement with a team led by Jim Janetos, which included Carrie Fleming, Marie Doyle, Ailbish Bruchet, James Kelsall, Puneet Kohli, Tristan Musgrave, Godyne Sibay, Julie Parla, Byron Shaw, Sam Rogers, Robert Glasgow, Mehak Suri, Scott Chalmers and Meg Heesaker.
